As will be clear from the above titles, this material is organised according to use, and each area may contain several different types of files. Material for printing can be displayed and then printed if you so wish, and presentations and audio material will also download. All files have been checked for viruses and you won't harm your PC in any way by downloading any of these.

Playing, displaying or downloading

There are several different types of files here. Each type behaves in a particular way depending on the way you click on the 'Download' or 'Play' link at the right of each list. The pages in the section on Evolution behave as is normal for web pages.

If you wish to see or hear these files immediately, depending on their type, left-click on the 'Download' or 'Play' link. RTF and DOC files should open in your wordprocessor (usually Word in Windows systems), and Presentations in a presentations editor, if you have one. PDF files will display in Adobe Reader, and Audio files should start playing after a few seconds in a media application. ZIP archives should open in a folder. (If your machine complains that it can't open a Zipped file you need to obtain Winzip or one of the many free unzippers.)

If you wish to download the files to your desktop or other folder in order to save them on your PC or laptop, right-click the 'Download' or 'Play' link. Once downloaded onto your machine a double left-click on the file in your machine's folder will load it into a suitable application and display or play it.

In Internet Explorer there is an option to control where you download material, and you can either set it to download to the Desktop or to a known folder, or make the browser ask each time where you want the file put (which might be a more sensible option, long-term).

The three zipped archives in the Public area containing Bible courses are quite large, and the 'Learn to read the Bible more effectively' file is about 35Mb. On slow internet connections this will take some time to download.

Privacy

As with the Addresses pages, unless one has the full link URL of these pages they are very unlikely to be found. Certain features have also been embedded in the system to divert intruders and route any queries elsewhere. Search engines are also prevented from accessing the files.

This effort at privacy is principally for the benefit of the brethren who provided the material, so that the files are hidden from the public. Some might disagree with this approach for moral or for technical reasons, but we respectfully request that this privacy is honoured and that these files are only made available to brethren and sisters, and, preferably, only to those within our fellowship.

Errors

To imagine that I have got everything right in these pages would be to display naivety of a rather high order. I would be very grateful if mistakes could be pointed out, and that the authors of unattributed material please notify me so that I can give credit where it is due.
